Robert T. (Bob) Armistead, is president of Armistead Mechanical, Inc., a fourth-generation mechanical contracting and engineering firm with offices in Waldwick, New Jersey, and Newburgh, New York, focusing almost exclusively on commercial and industrial plumbing, heating, air-conditioning and process piping.
Bob has over 40 years of experience in the plumbing, HVAC and process piping industry and in the design and management of mechanical construction for various industrial, hospital, pharmaceutical and commercial projects.An active member of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America’s (MCAA) Board of Directors since 2003, Bob became national president of the MCAA in 2010 and remains active in the association on both the national and local levels. At the national level, he serves on the UA International Training Fund Board of Trustees, the Mechanical Contracting Education and Research Foundation (MCERF) Board of Trustees and the UA/MCAA Strategic Planning Committee.
Bob has served over 20 years as a MCANJ board member, is a MCANJ Past President and has been a management trustee on a number of Taft Hartley Pension, Welfare and Annuity Funds in New Jersey and New York. He has also served as MCANJ Chairman of the Education and Marketing Committees and is a member of the ACE/MCICNJ Mentoring Committee. He is a member of the MCANJ and MCANY labor policy committees that negotiate many of the UA pipe trade agreements throughout the states of New Jersey and New York. He also enjoys excellent relations with the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters throughout the United States and Canada at the national level. In addition, Mr. Armistead is a member and past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hudson Valley Construction Contractors Association based in Newburgh, New York and is a board member and current Vice Chairman of the Industrial Development Agency in Orange County, New York.
Bob obtained his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the states of New Jersey and New York. After college, he served as a Naval Engineering Officer aboard the guided missile destroyer USS Richard E. Byrd DDG-23 stationed with the United States Navy’s 6th Fleet. He also holds a New Jersey Master Plumber’s License and various other mechanical contracting licenses throughout New Jersey and New York.
The Armistead family has been in the mechanical construction and engineering business for four generations, and works with many of the prestigious Fortune 500 companies located throughout the tri-state region.
In addition to Armistead Mechanical, Inc. the family also operates AMI Services, Inc., an HVAC service company and Acorn Plumbing and Heating, Inc. a residential plumbing and heating company serving the Hudson Valley in New York.
