George J. Pierson

CEO and COO, America Parsons Brinckerhoff

George J. Pierson is Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of the Americas division of Parsons Brinckerhoff and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. He is responsible for overseeing the efforts of more than 5,000 PB employees who work on transportation and other infrastructure projects in the U.S., Canada and South America. Prior to his appointment as COO of the Americas in January of 2008, Mr. Pierson was PB’s General Counsel and Secretary. Before joining PB, Mr. Pierson was Partner and Director of the International Construction Practice Group of Peckar & Abramson, PC, a leading national construction law firm based in River Edge, New Jersey. During his time with Peckar & Abramson he was named a leading construction lawyer by Chambers USA and also named to the international Who’s Who in Construction Law. During a 10-year career with Kvaerner PLC (and its predecessor, Davy McKee), he held a variety of posts, including Executive Vice President and Legal Director of the firm’s Engineering, Technology and Construction Division, which had $2 billion in sales and 9,000 employees in 30 countries. Earlier in his career he was an associate with Farella, Braun & Martel, a law firm in San Francisco, California, and an environmental engineer with Camp, Dresser & McKee, Inc. in that firm’s Walnut Creek, California office.

Mr. Pierson is a frequent speaker at industry events, including those for the Construction Management Association of America, the American and International Bar Associations, and the Association of General Contractors/McGraw-Hill ENR Global Construction Conference.

Mr. Pierson is licensed to practice law in New York, California, New Jersey and Pennsylvania and is a Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers. He holds a professional engineer’s license in California. He has a J.D. from Harvard Law School, an MBA from St. Mary’s College of California, an M.S. in civil engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, and a B.S. in civil engineering from Bucknell University, where he served as a guest lecturer in civil engineering from 1997 to 2005.
