About Us
The ACE Mentor Program of Greater NY was the founding affiliate of the ACE Mentor Program. The program began in 1994 with three teams comprised of industry professionals from 17 mentoring firms and 90 students. ACE GNY has grown to 51 teams, with over 600 mentors from over 130 firms, and introduced more than 1,800 students in New York City, Long Island, and Westchester and Rockland counties to the design and construction industry in the 2023-24 academic season.
ACE GNY is split into teams, with each team having approximately 25 high school students and 15 mentors. Teams meet at host firms or educational institutions in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, Long Island and Westchester County. There are also remote team options.
Teams meet from early November through mid-May, with some teams starting in January; in May, teams share their group project with family members, school representatives, mentors, and industry leaders.
College Preparation
ACE GNY offers webinars for students on different college and career topics as well as opportunities to learn from ACE GNY Alumni about college life. Graduating seniors who will be majoring in an ACE-related major can apply for an ACE GNY Scholarship to support their higher education.
Alumni Support and Internships
To support ACE GNY Alum’s exploration of the AEC industry, ACE GNY offers many programs for alumni to network and build skills. Incoming college freshmen are introduced to Ambassadors who are ACE GNY Alumni at area colleges and universities to support their transition to college. Throughout their years in college, Alumni can apply for internships through the annual Summer Internship Program for internship placement at top industry firms. ACE GNY also offers webinars on resume reviews, mock interviews, internship preparation, and more to support Alum’s advancement in the industry.
Mentor Support and Recognition
ACE GNY offers professional development and networking opportunities for all mentors involved in the program. Each year, ACE GNY organizes professional development discussion panels that explore cutting-edge changes in the industry, case studies examining important aspects of the design and construction field, and other exciting topics. ACE GNY also hosts social networking events throughout the year, and a large mentor appreciation event each summer.
