My involvement in ACE has been highly rewarding and vastly exceeded my expectations. Not only do I have the opportunity to design a realistic project, but now I am equipped with authentic tools and technology to complete the design. ACE has been a key catalyst promoting my interests. ACE has expanded my horizons and shown me the endless world of opportunities that are available in the construction industry.

ACE Mentoring of Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) introduces area high school juniors and seniors to the many rewarding career opportunities offered by the Architectural, Construction and Engineering professions. Through programs that integrate hands-on activities, tours, field trips and weekly interaction with mentors from area industry firms. Our students are exposed to a wide variety of skills and specialties found in the building industry. Since the inaugural year of ACE-DFW in 2004 we have grown in size from serving 21 students at one school to more than 200 students with three locations, downtown Dallas, Fort Worth & Plano/Frisco and students from more than 20 DFW area schools.
We feel that our program deepens students’ understanding of the career paths open to them, while giving them experience in applying the tools and techniques used by experts in the field. Our goal is to have mentors from Architecture, Construction and Engineering in each of our small groups and a mix of students interested in each of the 3 main ACE disciplines as well. At the beginning of the year we survey the students to find out what area they are interested in and then pair the students within the small groups using the same mix as the mentors. This allows us to have more one on one time with the students interested in each particular industry represented by ACE. The small group setting strengthens the student’s ability to work in teams as they mature in their educational goals and is of great benefit when entering the job market whether as an intern or a professional.
ACE-DFW also funds a scholarship program for students who choose a post-high-school course of study leading to a career in the building industry. To date, this program has awarded scholarships worth more than $500,000.
