Bethany has been with the ACE Mentor affiliate in Pittsburgh since the program’s beginning in 2008. She first got involved as a volunteer host mentor and quickly moved to co-Lead Mentor of the program. When she made the transition to Perkins Eastman’s Pittsburgh studio 7 years ago, she used the opportunity to bring in more mentors and established one of the most successful sessions with the most student engagement of the Pittsburgh program each year. She continues in the Lead Mentor role today helping develop each year’s program and facilitating sessions. Bethany also sits on the ACE Pittsburgh Associate Board as Gala Chair and Scholarship Chair to facilitate and support these activities. As part of the scholarship selection committee, she tries to bring a more human approach and understanding about each applicant. During the review process, Bethany focuses on highlighting students’ character, work ethic, and the passion they often exhibited throughout the year.
