Rick Boyd
COO (retired), Clayton Homes
Knoxville, Tennessee
ACE Mentor Program of Greater Knoxville
Several years ago, Rick was approached by the ACE Board of Greater Knoxville to spearhead the ACE Mentor Program at Clayton-Bradley Academy and to be on the affiliate’s Board of Directors, and he enthusiastically agreed. Soon after, he became directly involved in marshalling a half dozen colleagues to establish the Clayton-Bradley Academy’s ACE curriculum and teach the classes. Even as the Chief Operating Officer at Clayton Homes, he never missed a chance to take time out of his schedule to visit the class and give students a chance to learn from his experience in the field. He was directly responsible for other architects and engineers from Clayton Homes joining the program as mentors. Behind the scenes, he connected the ACE Board of Greater Knoxville with the Clayton Foundation that provides $10,000 yearly in support. Now that he’s retired from Clayton Homes, Rick has devoted more time and energy to the Clayton-Bradley Academy ACE students, continuing as the Lead Board Mentor. Perhaps the greatest testimonial to Rick’s positive influence is that his former students still regularly return to the program to visit with him.
