Steve Krawczynski

Steve serves as President and CEO of van Zelm Engineers, a mechanical and electrical consulting firm with offices in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and North Carolina. For nearly 95 years, van Zelm has specialized in the planning and design of building systems that foster learning, innovation, and sustainability—a focus the firm has championed. Steve joined van Zelm in 1990, became a Principal in 1995, and brings expertise in designing mechanical and electrical systems for academic, cultural, healthcare, industrial, and commercial projects. He is a LEED-certified Professional, Certified Energy Manager, and Certified Building Commissioning Professional; he holds a mechanical engineering degree from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and an M.B.A. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
van Zelm Engineers has been involved with the ACE Mentor Program of America since 2001. In addition to serving on the national ACE board as a director, Steve serves on the Connecticut Affiliate Board of Directors and is the Team Lead and mentor for the New Britain Chapter. With a lifelong commitment to fostering student interest in STEM, he has also served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Hartford and Central Connecticut State University. He is also a member of the New Britain Boys and Girls Club’s Board of Directors and President of the van Zelm Foundation.
