The ACE Mentor Program of Savannah introduces high school students to exciting careers in the architectural, construction and engineering professions and supports their higher education goals through merit-based scholarships. We are currently serving Savannah Chatham County Schools with plans to serve the surrounding counties and cities.
ACE Savannah helps high school students explore the many rewarding career options in the architectural, engineering and construction fields.
Teams of students are paired with a diverse group of professional industry mentors to explore the fields of architecture, construction, engineering and skilled trades. Students learn what a “day in the life” looks like for each profession and they actively participate in hands-on demonstrations of a related skill. Students work together throughout the ACE year/season to design and build a final project that aligns with a pre-determined theme. They also take field trips to local firms, major construction sites and notable buildings to experience and see firsthand what is required to design and build these kinds of structures.
The program culminates with a year-end event at which students present their projects to the board, peers, parents, mentors, educators and community leaders. In addition to acquiring new knowledge and skills, students are eligible for ACE scholarships and gain contacts that can help with college admissions, internships and full-time employment. ACE enhances the mentoring firm profile and the individual mentor's presentation and communication skills as well as preparing the future workforce.
