The ACE Mentor Program has been an amazing opportunity to experience hands-on work with professionals in the field. It has helped me decide what career path to follow. It is one thing to read about the trades and another to actually construct what you imagine.
Richmond, VA
The ACE Mentor Program of RVA introduces high school students to exciting careers in the architectural, construction management and engineering professions and supports their higher education goals through merit-based scholarships. We are currently serving Chesterfield County Schools with plans to serve the surrounding counties and cities.
Program Overview
Teams of students are paired with diverse groups of industry mentors to explore the fields of architecture, construction and engineering. Students learn what a “day in the life” looks like for each profession and they actively participate in hands-on demonstrations of a related skill. Students also work together to design a final project that aligns with a pre-determined theme.
Additionally, student teams have the opportunity to tour construction and renovation sites for major projects.
Each year, the program culminates with a year-end event at which students present their projects to peers, parents, mentors, educators and community leaders.
