Giselle Newman, MS, ASID, IIDA
Giselle, a seven-year ACE mentor veteran, leads Metro Nashville’s Architecture Construction Career Academy, soliciting mentors, developing schedules and overseeing the team’s day-to-day operations. When the Academy program began to falter because students in the underserved community couldn’t keep up with demands of school and jobs, Giselle rallied teachers, mentors and members of the school’s advisory council behind the ACE Capstone Class, a program that allows seniors to count ACE as their senior project. She also recently brokered a donation of land to support a future “student designed/built” home. Giselle regularly works with mentors, develops coursework and plans field trips and projects to support the program. Over the years, Nashville students have been awarded $12,000 in scholarships, in large part due to Giselle’s influence on students to attend post-secondary training.
