ACE Plans Silver Anniversary Celebrations
During 2019, ACE will celebrate its 25th Anniversary with different activities involving the entire ACE community of students, teams, mentors, alumni and affiliates.  Plans include:
  • A competition for photos and videos capturing the ACE spirit. Everyone in the ACE family can enter. Winning entries will be posted on the ACE website and social media pages and featured in the 2019 ACE Yearbook.
  • All affiliates will be invited to name an individual or small team of people they consider “ACE Rock Stars” because of their outstanding contributions to ACE over time. The collection of ACE Rock Stars will be showcased on the ACE website, social media platforms, and highlighted in other ways.
  • Anniversary Dinner, May 14, 2019, Washington, DC in conjunction with National Design and Construction Competition finals, presentation of the CMiC—Allen Berg Memorial Scholarships, and affiliate leaders’ conference.
  • Silver anniversary commemorative edition of the ACE Yearbook.
Stay tuned for more details about each of these and other activities.

Summer Time, Busy Time for ACE
ACE students at University of Colorado Denver summer camp designed and built patio furniture.
For some affiliates and many students, there is no summer vacation.  Across the country, ACE students participated in several architecture, design-build, and construction camps.
  • For the second year, 25 students from 8 affiliates in the Western region joined the week-long summer camp operated for ACE by the College of Architecture and Planning at the University of Colorado Denver.
  • Now in its ninth year, Chicago’s six-week-long summer Design-Build Workshop collaborated with a sustainability institute on the Illinois Institute of Technology campus. This year’s workshop was supported by Chicago Public Schools and, for the second time, a grant from Cognizant’s Making the Future program.
  • Twenty-one (21) teen girls participated in the second annual Let's Build Construction Camp organized by the Lehigh Valley (PA) affiliate, in partnership with the Lehigh Valley chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors.
  • Twelve students from several affiliates attended, on partial and full scholarships, one of the two architecture studios at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater. Each studio lasted a week.

Hats Off!
