G. Sandy Diehl, III

Mr. Diehl started SD Global Advisors in early 2012, following a 25-year career with United Technologies (NYSE: UTX) and its Otis Elevator business unit. SD Global Advisors has a global network advising clients on strategies to increase their revenue, by focusing on globalization, product strategy and business development. SD Global Advisors specializes in the building and clean tech industries with expertise in China, Japan, Korea, India, and the Middle East.

During his career at UTC and Otis, Mr. Diehl held several senior level executive positions. Prior to leaving UTC, he was the VP of UTC’s Integrated Building Solutions, an innovative initiative leading the collaboration of UTC’s commercial business units (Otis, Carrier, UTC Fire and Security, and UTC Power) to serve major global projects and customers. In his last assignment at Otis Elevator, Mr. Diehl was Senior Vice President for Strategy and Development. In this assignment he was responsible for Otis’ global marketing, business development, product management and communication functions. Throughout his Otis career he held both operational and strategy positions, contributing to many Otis innovations over the last 2 decades. He is well known for his advocacy for system wide sustainability, as well as improving the basic energy efficiency of the built environment.

Prior to working at UTC and Otis, Mr. Diehl worked for General Electric, Air Products and Chemicals, and Patient Technology, a healthcare startup company.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Cornell University, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Mr. Diehl currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Regents of the American Architectural Foundation in Washington DC, and is President of the Board of Trustees of the Church of St. Simon-by-the-Sea in New Jersey. He also serves on the board and executive committee of ACE Mentor, which is a high school mentoring program for the fields of architecture, construction and engineering.
