Michelle Porter
Curriculum and Student Resource Director
Before working with the ACE Mentor Program Team, Michelle Porter spent 20 years working in public education. After graduating from Brigham Young University-Hawaii, Michelle taught English at Kalaheo High School on Oahu, and when she moved back to Omaha, Nebraska, she continued teaching English courses at Omaha North High School and earned a graduate degree furthering her own learning. Her experience with developing English curriculum quickly branched into interdisciplinary planning, when she was asked to partner with the Career and Technology Educators, developing a pocket academy for students in the STEM fields. In 2017, Michelle became an adjunct instructor for the IS&T department at the University of Nebraska Omaha. Teaching at both the secondary and post-secondary levels, she enjoys working with young people and seeing their dreams become realities. In 2019, Michelle became a Curriculum Specialist and Academy Lead for the four academy programs at Omaha North. During her years as an educator, Michelle established curriculum, programs, and partnerships that helped build the community and workforce. It was through these academies Michelle began working with the ACE Mentor Program, assisting the school champion with project development and student support.
Michelle currently lives in Omaha, Nebraska with her husband Mark. She loves spending time with her family and is the proud aunt to lots of nieces and nephews. Michelle loves traveling, dogs, and reading, but the best times are always when they are with family.
